Will solar systems work in South Africa?

Friday, April 16th, 2010

What a question? if solar systems work in London, which they do, then they will certainly work in Sunny South Africa where we have one of the highest solar radiation levels in the world! A quality solar heater will heat your water to 55 to 65 degrees celcius!  South africa is also going through such high price increases in electricity that it really has become a necessity.  Your geyser uses about 40 to 60% of your electricity usage, so it makes sense that getting this system to get HOT water for free from the sun makes real sense!  Research shows that you can save 70% of your electricity usuage this way.  Whats’ more is that if Eskom suffer power cuts etc, like we have for the past few years, you are no longer going to suffer with them.  Of course there is a back up electric element that can be used if necessary, like on very overcast days.  Solar water heater tanks are also better insulated than those of electric geysers and can therefore keep the water hot for much longer.  If you want to check out our tubes click here http://www.geysersmart.co.za/products/solarheating

How does a Solar Geyser work?

Friday, April 16th, 2010

Solar geysers use solar radiation (heat from the sun) to create energy, which is then converted into electricity.  We put vacuum tubes on the roof and these heat up really quickly and this then heats up your water and returns it to your geyser.  We also fit a geyserwise unit in which regulates your geyser, so that the temperature is controlled and so that the geyser works optimally.  This way you should have hot water most times, when you live in a sunny country like we do.  Most solar units do come with a back up electric element which can be used on overcast days.  The perfect use of it therefore would be to take your baths in the night time because you would have all that spare energy that the solar system collected during the day.  The life span of a solar system is about 10 to 20 years. if you want to see more, visit http://www.geysersmart.co.za/products/solarheating

Take energy from the sun!

Friday, April 16th, 2010

Well, it used to be unaffordable to get solar systems, now since the price increase in electricity and the ones planned in the near future – you can’t afford not to!  Solar as an alternative source of energy to heat your hot water in your house, company, etc.  is becoming the obvious choice now!  Why not get some free hot water, when the price of electricity is going through the roof.   Eskom has recently doubled its subsidy for solar geysers, which is encouraging people more and more to go this route!  The panels sit on your roof getting hot very quickly and then heats your water.  Walla – free hot water!  We live in a fabulously sunny part of the world and yet we took slowly to the solar systems, but now it is speeding up and people are really interested in saving money and choosing a greener way to live!  For more information on our geyserwise units or solar systems visit http://www.geysersmart.co.za/products/solarheating
