Choosing a Hot Water Geyser?

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

When choosing a solar geyser, look out for the following:

SABS mark of approval
GEYSERWISE certification
Five-year warranty
 Eskom accreditation

Heating water is only one of the tasks of a solar geyser. Retaining the heat generated through sunlight is another important issue.  With over 12 years experience in the energy saving industry in South Africa, we have become the obvious choice in both geyserwise units and solar geysers for many households.
The product has been awarded the SABS mark of approval. Our solar geysers are subsidised by Eskom, meaning that our clients get cash back when they purchase our solar water heaters. click here to see pictures of our units installed GeyserSmart Solars

Will our children have electricity?

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

We should start to look at keeping our resources available for future generations. It is crucial that we say “NO MORE power outages”, and it is essential to reduce our fossil fuel emissions, and thereby you will also have a significantly reduced electric bill.

Transitioning to solar power is a must, and now it is not only much cheaper because of the well priced units that we are importing from China, but the government is even giving you a huge subsidy, making the transition to “Green” much easier.

GeyserSmart is a Geyserwise certified and licensed installer and an Eskom accredited installer.  We assist our clients who choose alternative energy in their drive towards going green. We specialise in installing either Geyserwise units or full hot water geyser solar systems in homes and businesses. We offer excellent service and have an excellent service record, visit our website here for more info www.geysersmart.co.za .

Solar water heating – the cheap new “in thing”

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

What is Solar water heating? It is using the sun’s energy to heat your water which accounts for the largest part of your electricity bill.  The panels absorb the energy from the sun, thus making it a stunning renewable energy source. This cuts a significant amount of carbon dioxide emissions from entering the Earth’s atmosphere and ofcourse, thereby lessens the negative impact on the environment hugely.

Energy Minister Dipuo Peters, said the African continent was so behind in implementation of solar water heating mainly due to the previously high costs involved. She said that she was confident that the new 5 year target would be met though, because it is targeted around saving people money.  Eskom has offered incentives to persuade households to turn to solar power. Solar geysers are very basic appliances, heating water via a solar panel fitted to the roof that causes the hot water to rise by convection and then circulate through the geyser. They range in price from about R9 995 for a 150 litre geyser to up to R12 500 for a 300 litre geyser, but you can pay as much as R30 000 from some companies. Always look for them to be SABS approved and the units should come with a 5 year guarantee.  Heating water is only one of the tasks of a solar geyser. Retaining the heat generated through sunlight is a very important factor, not only at night, but also in overcast weather. Our solar geyser unit comes with a GeyserWise system included in the price and this manages the use of the heat, so that it is not wasted.

Take 70% off your geyser electricity consumption immediately!

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

Eskom has recently announced huge hikes in electricity costs during the next three years.  They also back the idea of solar geysers completely, emphasizing that the potential is to shave 70% off the geysers electricity consumption. There is a power back-up for overcast days.  GeyserSmart positioned themselves in the most cost effective part of the market, so that more people can afford these units,  our 300 litre which retails for about R12 000 compared to many others on the market for closer to R30 000 doesn’t even need the rebate to make it attractive to all. Eskom launched its solar water subsidy at the start of 2008, it aimed to subsidise 1 million geysers nationally over five years. But in the first two years of the subsidy’s being in place, only 2 000 households had taken up the offer.
The number of households that have taken up Eskom’s solar water geyser subsidies has rocketed in the past month since the utility more than doubled the geyser subsidy from around R2 500 to around R7 500. This now has Eskom taking up 50% of your costs of installing your SolarGeyser.  The money to pay for the subsidies will come out of Eskom’s electricity price hikes. You will pay first but then you would apply with them for the cashback rebate.  After you paid the unit off (which you can usually do quickly from your savings each month) you have FREE hot water forever.

About 40 to 70 percent of a household’s electricity bill goes to pay for heating the geyser. Eskom’s commitment is to get 200 000 of these installed a year, totallying  1 million over a 5 year period. According to Eskom if they save electricity by putting in a million solar water geysers, the amount of electricity would be 650MW, and this is equivalent to one third of the power generated by Koeberg’s two nuclear reactors.  If you want to pay the most reasonable price in town, plus get excellent service as well as a stable product click here Solar Panels

Eskom raises their cash-back rebate!

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

In an aggressive effort  to convince more South Africans to use solar geysers, Eskom is raising the cash-back rebate offer to consumers. Previously an average of 20 percent of the money spent on a solar geyser was returned by Eskom to the purchaser, now the company is offering a new rebate system that is really exciting for all.  The previous rebate system has been running for 2 years already but has failed to create the excitement or enticement desired by the power giant.  If you think about it, this increased subsidy offer is actually much cheaper for Eskom than building an entire new power plant!  Of course the main aim is to lower the electricity demand urgently.  According to them, they need thousands and thousands of households to install solar geysers as soon as possible for us to get through this issue.  The urgent project is – TO LOWER ELECTRICITY DEMAND. Our company has brought the first affordable solar system to South Africa,  our systems are robust and have an incredibly long life expectancy, so they will last a long, long time!  If you want to be part of this solution, click here www.geysersmart.co.za to check out what systems we have on offer.  Our geyser management systems start from as little as R1450.

Increasing electricity bills – go Solar!

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

Many householders don’t actually realise that taking hot showers, washing dishes, doing the weekly laundry and heating swimming pools are a major strain on the monthly energy bill. And whilst it’s difficult for any of us to cut such vital activities from our schedules, there are ways in which you can maintain your current standards of living and at the same time make significant savings on that increasing electricity bill. The answer to the problem is simple; all you have to do is capture the natural power of the sun! Of course tapping into this source of constant energy takes skill and expertise and this is where the products and services which we have to offer prove themselves to be invaluable. As leading and much respected solar panel installers, we have the ability to advise and install energy saving products in both residential homes and businesses. To view them, click here Solar Panels

SA saved 420 MW during Earth Hour – says ESKOM

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

According to Eskom the country saved 420 MW on that one Saturday evening due to the Earth Hour initiative.
The initiative contributed to the saving of 400 t of carbon dioxide, 224 t of coal and 576 000 litres of water, owing to the power stations not needing to generate the 400 MW of power. Apparently on average our lights consume about 10% of household electricity, whereas geysers use as much as 40% of the total electricity bill.  “Imagine if we all switched off our geysers as well on that day.  What if we could all harness that kind of excitement and use energy wisely every day of the year, with our SolarGeyser systems you can, read more here SolarGeysers

We are extremely proud of the fact that our products are now working hard to reduce electricity bills throughout South Africa. And make no mistake; we’re working tirelessly to ensure that everyone within reach has the chance to benefit from our excellent range of solar hot water heaters.

How to choose a Solar Water Geyser?

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

Choosing a solar water geyser is not a simple process.  Two homes may well have the same amount of people living in it, but their hot water usage can be completely different.  The first step in choosing a solar geyser is choosing what kind of solar geyser would suit your needs. The most common types of solar geysers include direct systems, indirect systems and evacuated tube systems.  Always look for them to be SABS approved and the units should come with a 5 year guarantee.  Heating water is only one of the tasks of a solar geyser. Retaining the heat and using it effectively is even more important. Our solar geyser unit comes with a GeyserWise system included in the price and this manages the use of the heat, so that it is not wasted.
